Position:Home>Poetry> I was told this is a weird poem- what do you think?

Question:Playing solitaire
into the night
wonder one might
what does he ponder
as his fingers wander over the keys?

Does he consider as he clicks
the different ways that we might fix
the devastation, as a nation,
we have wrought upon the Earth?

Or does he cogitate on the cost
of pork bellies, or the worth of an ounce of gold?
Has he grown cold to the cries of those without
and within beats not a heart, but scar tissue.

Is that you? are you he?
I know that sometimes, that is me.

I totally saw hope for this poem at the first with the solitaire and then the thoughts the person was having while he was playing....but then it ended....no cohesion. Keep the beginning but tie it together at the end. How does the solitaire game itself tie into the problems you bring into the middle? I just don't get it

i like it but the stanzas arent constant

It may sound weird to some, and to others it might strike a chord. It seems that when you wrote it you were trying to catch up with your thoughts, then once you were satisfied that you had reached a compromise with yourself, you just went back to put the final touches to your work. I wouldn't call your poem "weird". I'd say it is very "personal", and whilst it may baffle some, it may very well be appealing to others.

Not me! That guy must be a Republican.
