Position:Home>Poetry> What's happening on Mars?

Question:I'm sitting in the meadow
Just staring at the stars
Wondering what is happening
There on the planet Mars
Is someone drinking coffee
I like mine both light and sweet
Is the mailman out delivering
Waving to people on the street
What are those Martians thinking
Writing thoughts with pen in hand
What would I be doing
If I were to ever land
On that big ol' Red Planet
Would I have lots o fun
Alas I am still sitting
On the 3rd rock from the sun

Last week I had dinner in Mars' finest restaurant. The food was okay, but it didn't have much atmosphere.

Mars ain't the kind a place to raise a sun...wait, didn't Sir Reginald Dwight already do that one?

Spectacular!

Up here on planet Mars,
for me I sit and write,
prolific.
Waiting for the next
friend to walk inside
the door.
Earth, while very pleasant
is not the place to be,
I think I like to view the world
universally.

Rock on! You're rolling!

cool poem

The 3rd rock from the sun? How original! Wish I had thought of that! But it fits and makes a nice punchline. As Randy would say: Props.

Alas, we have no meadows,
and very little sun,
but we have two moons and many domes
and we DO have lots of fun.

I love this. And I like 3rd rock from the sun, regardless of whether it is original or not.

I too sometimes wonder if I will reach such dizzy heights.
And share with all the others Red Mars's sweet delights.

I wonder all the time what is out there.

.....and what on Mars is happening on Earth?
.....that they should take so much for granted
.....and carve graffiti on the face of this my planet
.... still blood red and bruised from cosmic birth.?

I have been interested in these Mars poems but never really got them... now I am beginning to.

Welcome... Do you know where your are?

GOOD, I hoped you would.

I barely got it at first! Not your poem but the reason for everyone writing one about the Big Red Boy in the sky...

It is nice to see (clears throat at Siren) that I was not alone in being oblivious!

Love the poem, have always liked your work, and look forward to seeing what you are going to do next!

Extra-terrestrials just being themselves is the answer to the question.

PS Lying in the meadow it is easier to look at stars than sitting.
