Always good enough to be a best friend

I had convinced myself that this was my lot
To always be a big brother
A confidante

Friends I have had many
Some so affectionat, so close
A friend they could confide in
But never worthy of love

I had given up hope
Resigned to permanent singleness
A Man rich with friends
But never worthy of love

Then one day in May
You had always been there
You were my neighbor
Just four doors down

I saw you as if for the very first time
We had walked the same way
I always assumed you a good friend
But never worthy of love

You were Linda's Friend

My neighbor and friend

Now it is 12 years from that first time
The day I realized that you were there
The day we both knew
We were worthy of love

You are my best friend

Wow your wife is a very lucky woman

This is a personal love poem to your wife. and for her it will have a very special meaning. To an outside reader like myself though, your stanzas lack punch and as such lacked interest. That of course is my own opinion. It does sound like she is a special lady.

it started out slowly
There was frustration because
Each line but worthy of love
for a while.
You were patient
until you found that right person.
I like the last paragraph
You are my best friend
you are my confidante
You are the greatest
My only love
My wife.
