What poem should I analyze for a college paper?

Question:I have to write a 4-6 page analysis paper on a text (poem, song, advertisement, etc). I would like to do a poem, but it must have LITERARY VALUE. Any suggestions?

Take a look at the book The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. It has several poems/poetry you may like.

I used 'On Friendship' for a paper like yours and got an 'A' on it.

Poems by Edgar Allan Poe make good material to write about. The Telltale Heart,etc....

I love "If" by Rudyard Kipling. I'm sure you could come up with enough analysis for this. Good luck.

I'm not so sure about literary merit but Dr. Seuses Oh the Place You'll go has definite life applications and is one of the most well kown poems of the twenty first century as are all of his books so any would be a good choice. I know it sounds lame but they really are fantastic with life applcations. Either that or As I Stand Here Ironing is good.
