What do you think about China?

“I like peas, yes pass them please…”

What do you think about the war in Iraq?
Don’t you think we should mind our own business?

“I like corn, since I was born, and
I like peas, yes pass them please…”

What of the economy, gone cold with Global Warming?

“I like ham and candied yams,
I like corn, since I was born
I like peas, yes pass them please…”

What has happened to John Lennon’s world of one?

“I like desert and warm mulled wine
I like ham and candied yams,
I like corn, since I was born
I like peas, yes pass them please…”

TD
This is an interesting poem
along with delicious
It talks about food
that is very good
Please pass the peas
along with the corn
since the person was born
With the ham
and the candied yams.

With that in mind this was very interesting
Christmas never occured to me. Report It

  • No protesting from this one. I like.

It starts with a chuckle but then quickly turns to thoughts of complacency and it doesn't affect me syndrome. Very well done.

I love those refrains very much TD.......they are so beautiful...
and it's long since i saw some one using internal rhymes with this effect! well done!!

This is a wonderful poem TD.
    You know I can't critique
    But can I get
    two toast with cheezes
    or would you say
    "Some Cheek"!!

The big things will be taken care of by someone else, I only concern myself... with myself. Pass the peas please.

Aye, personal responsibility and global concerns have indeed taken the back-burner to self. When was the so-called "Me decade?" Because I don't think it ever ended, just got accepted, even celebrated as the way to be.

Your poem shows that well, and the repeating (and growing) mundane phrases (rich with humour, of course, cuz we got's to laugh), really drove the point home. Each added line seemed to just get louder, the voice of mediocrity and selfish, uncaring, unthinking mass.

I like it much! And now I'm hungry!

I like bacon and I like beans.
I like girls in tight bluejeans.

Yes, I like this protest poem. You summed up the current atmosphere. Whatever has happened?!

Unfortunately this is how so many view these issues. You've nailed the "it's not my problem" phenomenon quite creatively, yet accurately.

Interesting but it brings back memories of when I worked with the mentally retarded. I would not thought of writing that a way. Thanks for sharing.

Thats why they call it comfort food.

    Yes, I do.

Don't look, don't look and you won't have to see.
    I'll have tea.

Let's get out there and chant it!!! It's what the world needs now!!!

Shucking the burden of corn....I think it is a protest poem, indeed!!! *amn the yams! Snidely would agree....A-CHOO!!!

If all else fails, change the subject. Visualize whirled peas, practice random acts of kindness, and eschew obfuscation.

I like protesting too much! But I also like peas...

It has ever been thus. I like the unique way you have expressed the concept of unconcern and "laissez faire."

    No protest here .........
& What DID happen to that world of ONE
