Position:Home>Poetry> Could this be considered a poem? maybe FREE VERSE?

Question:You really think we're different?
I think we're really the same!
The only difference,
Is we see in different ways

You look at the outside
I look into the inside
You only read the title
While I read the pages

While your busy judging
I'm busy understanding
While you try to choose my fate
Your forgetting about your own

While you choose to discriminate
I choose to Love
Your so worried about my lifestyle
That you're not living your own

Well I dont even know if this can be considered a poem. What do you think? I think I know what I want to really say, I just can't think of how to word it.
So what do you think about it? Maybe it can be considered a free verse poem?

It could be considered a poem. However, from a critical point of view, it would benefit from more work to make it into a good poem. Could the author come up with alternatives to "different"/"difference" three times and "really" twice in stanza 1, for example? Was there a reason for abandoning punctuation after the end of the second line? "Your" should be "You're" in the third stanza. And given that it isn't a complex poem, I wonder whether coming up with rhyming scheme and proper rhythm isn't a possibility.

Writing good poetry takes effort - the danger is that people use the "free verse" idea as a cover for their unwillingness to put that effort in.

It can be considered as one but it needs alot more work and try to use some poetic devices. Free verse, even with theri name, must also conform to poetic rules, albeit in a loose way.

I love it and i honestly do not know what it is. I say that it might be considered a poem but it depends from the person who tells you his or her opinion.
