Position:Home>Poetry> Am I really and old relic?

Question:Of what use is it, this dome that surmounts
A rickety, shaky off times quivering bowed
Framework of old worn out blemished
Antiquity.
Looked upon as a relic of ancient times, tolerated
As one would anything that still may serve some
Purpose in the short life given to it out of pity,
By they who keep it for some forgotten sentimental
Reason.
Or by the grace of God it remains as a reminder of what
It once meant to someone, in that at some point it had its
Usefulness giving joys to both young and old. Now
No longer up to the task of what was still expected
Of it.

I am honored to read such wonderful work. Thank you for inspiring me with your words. Reading yours makes me want to emulate someone great. Please take this as a compliment.

This is so poignant and heartfelt. I really find myself spellbound by your use of words and your imagery. The words are bittersweet, they have a bite in their soothing way. I am wondering if the question is a typo or is as it states. Either way, this is a fine and meaningful piece of writing. And I thank you.

only by times so they will be called ancient
only by greed so they will be kept from no one
only by the likes of you may it could still be saved

This is beautiful poetic prose. In it, you ask universal questions, about age and mortality. Of course, the questions have many different answers, depending upon how each individual has lived. From the little I have seen of you, I believe you will never be relegated to the status of "old relic."

Quite lovely, Robert. So quickly speed the years, indeed they do; but sharing them with someone...is what counts in the long run.
