The stove she used to cook my food
doesn't work anymore. It broke a few
days after she died, and I can't
bring myself to fix it.

She warmed our home with her
cooking and her smile, but
now all that is left is a
stale crumpet that
she baked that day.

I don't have any wine to
drink with the bread she
left behind.

I want to move on, but our
children won't let me go.

Perhaps they are right, and
someday the stove will
heat my home again, and
a smile will brighten my
remaining day's.
