A leaf grows green upon a tree,
He sits and waits there eagerly.
He wavers in the passing breeze,
And all the world he wants to see.

One day the wind is blowing by
And he lets go of his old life.
He drifts along and says goodbye,
But slowly he begins to die.

His once green jacket fades to brown,
His dreams were not what he had found.
He once looked up, but now looks down,
His future now lies on the ground.
