Position:Home>Poetry> For everyone except Christine, do you like "Checkmate No. 5"...?

The Black Knight
by TD Euwaite

Upon my steed I wait for white to come
I must, as black, in order, last, you see
A chess game is a formula of sums
Impatience only fogs the mind in freeze

And now the time has come for me to move
When ordered to preserve the King and Queen
As Pawns around white castles disapprove
Or strike at ghosts in places where I’ve been

Hopscotching cross the battlefield of squares
I move in ways no other pieces can
Of me, your faith and fort becomes aware
There is no way to know where I will land

Beautiful.

Great subject. Great imagery. Great great.

no words really!
this is going to be the 21st century classic!

Who is Christine?

Good, good...

Of rhyme, of meter & of imagery
This piece makes well the uses of your skill.
Yet it concludes itself much hastily
& wants more for the grace of patient till.

Not bad at least I knew what you were talking about. And I like it that the view point is from a chess piece. Good creative idea. Well done

I love the line "Hopscotching cross the battlefield of squares."
Your journey into chess is extraordinary.

In a word, YES.
