Is rhymed poetry dead?

Question:I always rhyme my poems, because I like it better that way. And maybe I'm more comfortable with structure. But is there any chance of any of my poetry getting published, or will it be deemed "sentimental" or "old-fashioned", or whatever?

There are a lot of stupid debates on this question. Not saying that it's a stupid question whatsoever. Rhyming poetry, in my humble opinion, is much finer an art that free verse, because it takes more time to make it more original, less trite, and it goes deeper. Actually, I think your chances are better if you actually have unique, rhyming poetry. Anyone can jot down a couple of lines and proclaim, here is a poem, but rhyming is an art of the masters. Keep it up, blow me away.

Perhaps the reason why people are used to rhymed poetry
because of the nursery rhyme as a person grew up to.
Poems can or don't have to rhyme
I don't think its old fashioned
if you keep working at your poetry whether rhyming or not
it should be published.

I do both. I do a lot of rhyming and a lot of un-rhymed it depends on what the topic is that I am creating it on. What ever flows out of me whether its a rhyme or not that's what I do. I would say the majority of my poetry rhymes. As long as the poetry has feeling and its not just 'the cat and the hat' and that sort of easy rhyme then I think its perfectly okay.
