I grew up beside a graveyard, playing hide'n'seek, climbing trees above graves, wandering through the silence of the place. It gives one an interesting perspective. One of detachment to the final resting place of the shell of the person. Monuments become stone, just stone. Years later--I haven't lived there since the 90's--I am slowly refocusing my perspective on the need of monuments. I don't think I will ever fully understand--for me they are not necessary--but the need for others I am beginning to. And in that light, I celebrate this work. Wow, this poem is amazing, I was so encaptured by your words! I love it! Bravo. A wonderful poem. I love it. Very nice work:) I loved the first version and the revised version makes it even better, if such is possible. i like the last line on more heavenly wings...grave yard by frank grave yard so cold so quiet what goes on in the ground? is every one fast asleep or in heaven flying around? i'm not afraid of what it will be even if it is as dark and endless as a shut off t.v. I like it a lot. Brava. |
