That's very true Dorian... I believe that you meant "poems" when you said "pomes". =) Totally agree. Good night...

M.

for someone who really understands it i think that would be REALLY deep!!

Most definitely agree, I couldn't have put it better.

I do agree,
and I like it.
Very nice:)

Very good and very true!

Yes and No.
I assume you mean poems (first line).
I agree with the first observation. If there were poets (creative writers and performers), there would be no need for criticism. What would they be evaluating and analyzing if there were no poems!
I do not agree with the second proposition that if there were no critics, there wouldn't be beauty of poetry. We all have passionate feelings - we can love, we can hate, we can laugh and we can weep. That is the essential nature of our being human. Critics are human too. But they play second fiddle to creative artists. Critics can also be poets although most often, they make mediocre poets. They depend on the poets' work for the survival of their trade. Hence, even if we handed all critics a one-way ticket from Earth to Pluto, the sparkling beauty of Shakespeare's sonnet 17 will not be dented. Poets do not compose to gain critical acclaim. They write to express innermost feelings and distilled messages for humankind. As long as you enjoy works of creative imagination, and as long as you strive to share own poetic works, you are a poet. We are all singers (including the critics). Criticism is simply and finally the art of helping us appreciate the value and currency of the poet's imaginative and creative fiction.
Yes the beauty of a poetry will be there even if criticism does not assist us to appreciate it.

very good poem

Must I be critical and lend my critique?
Surely, there would be no need
if your second line but flowed
with the grace of the rest

Just a thought

The pen (indeed) is...
