Position:Home>Poetry> I Have A Dream.........A Secret Dream.........Do You Like My Poem?

Question:I Have A Dream, A Secret Dream

I have a dream, a secret dream
Which now I sing aloud
To all of you who know me well
And all unknowing crowd

"When I shall grow too rich and rich
So rich and rich one day
I'll take my sail and steer for west
A place too far away

I'll cross the oceans blue and green
And toss and dance on waves
I'll steal the sail upright the keel
When guiding west-wind raves

And thus apace a thousand mile
And many a thousand more
I'll cover on waters dark and bright
Till last I reach the shore

There on that country far and wide
My journey shall I end
And all my trip shall be to meet
One dear and dearer friend

What shall I call him when I meet
How shall I greet him then
The sweetest man I ever heard
Sweet singing like a wren

A gift for him sure I shall keep
The richest I can buy
But Dondi deserves more than what
All money yet can try"

But poor am I, too poor this day
And shall be so tomorrow
My hopes are black and days are dark
And life is full of sorrow

But to my heart I bear this wish
So close and goes to sleep
And in my sleeps shall bloom again
This sweetest dream I keep.

Love You So Much Dondi...............

Love You So Much Dondi...............

So well written in the classic ballad stanza style I seem to use more than any other. It's a shame that LauraSL knows so little of poetry, she might have been able to write one half as good. I myself feel compelled to say thank you for the words of praise, I only hope I can be deserving of them. Thanks to the others also. It is now my turn to feel humbled.

yes, its a very long poem.

Your poem sings, as usual. And you're not alone in loving Dondi.

nice one

In the words of Simon Cowell...........its sounds like a Broadway Show tune lyrics......it is well written but I do not think that i would put it in the poem category.

i love it...very lovely poem

I do like it. Very interesting.

YOU wrote this? It sounds very much like published poetry.. GREAT JOB

It would appear you are more than halfway to your destination!
Sail on, and on...and on.
