You can do one of my poems. Although not famous (yet), I am a published poet. Here is one...Sometimes... that I wrote in 1988

I feel like a foreign entity
in this room called a body,
Looking out through these
windows called eyes,
contemplating the world with
quiet interest.

For what purpose was
I sent here?
What information should I
be collecting?
I feel I once knew, but I no
longer remember, so
emotionless I sit and watch,
waiting for an energy pulse,
a thought to stir me into action.

Or you can do this one that I think all teens can relate to:

Messy Room by Shel Silverstein

Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater's been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A lizard named Ed is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
Donald or Robert or Willie or--
Huh? You say it's mine? Oh, dear,
I knew it looked familiar!

Others you can choose from:

Petals by Amy Lowell

Life is a stream
On which we strew
Petal by petal the flower of our heart;
The end lost in dream,
They float past our view,
We only watch their glad, early start.
Freighted with hope,
Crimsoned with joy,
We scatter the leaves of our opening rose;
Their widening scope,
Their distant employ,
We never shall know. And the stream as it flows
Sweeps them away,
Each one is gone
Ever beyond into infinite ways.
We alone stay
While years hurry on,
The flower fared forth, though its fragrance still stays.

Brown Penny by William Butler Yeats

I whispered, 'I am too young,'
And then, 'I am old enough';
Wherefore I threw a penny
To find out if I might love.
'Go and love, go and love, young man,
If the lady be young and fair.'
Ah, penny, brown penny, brown penny,
I am looped in the loops of her hair.

O love is the crooked thing,
There is nobody wise enough
To find out all that is in it,
For he would be thinking of love
Till the stars had run away
And the shadows eaten the moon.
Ah, penny, brown penny, brown penny,
One cannot begin it too soon.

My love,

I need you more than air,
No guy can compare,
You are my eyes leading the way,
I think about you every day,

We used to be friends so why did it come to an end,
But there you go and now you’re gone,
You not being mine feels so wrong,
I know we’re young and there’s lots of time,
But all I want and need is for you to be mine,
You are my water, my land and my sky,
All I want is for you to be my guy,
I see you every day but I don’t know how to win your heart,
I truly hate us being apart,
When I’m not with you I want to scream and shout,
If we were together what would you worry about?
Is it popularity, you really shouldn’t care,
It’s about the qualities inside and the ones you share,
I feel like a disease and you are my only cure,
You should be mine with a heart so pure,
I hope one day will be together,
Our love as pure as a soft white feather,

Elizabeth Barret Browning is fantastic and My personal verrrry favorite is Jim Morrison who, it turns out, was not only the lead singer of the Doors but also quite the accomplished poet. His best book of poems is Wilderness.

SUMMER NIGHT

by: Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892)

OW sleeps the crimson petal, now the white;
Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;
Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font:
The firefly wakens: waken thou with me.

Now droops the milk-white peacock like a ghost,
And like a ghost she glimmers on to me.

Now lies the Earth all Dana? to the stars,
And all thy heart lies open unto me.

Now slides the silent meteor on, and leaves
A shining furrow, as thy thoughts in me.

Now folds the lily all her sweetness up,
And slips into the bosom of the lake:
So fold thyself, my dearest, thou, and slip
Into my bosom and be lost in me.
