Yes, very much so. It is as valid as any other poetry form. I defy anyone to read Tupac Shakurs lyrics and tell me they are not poetry. I right some rap lyrics and use the same principles as I do to write poetry.

wyclef - sweetest girl.

not exactly rap though lol

Never heard poetic rap.

music is poetry.

not all of it is good poetry though.

old school hip-hop like KRS-One and such are good examples of poetry in rap, i think

Absolutely not.

Sorry Ash, I'm biased on rap / hip-hop. Repetitive music set to rhymes just doesn't constitute music to me. I'm usually open to all styles of music from classical, folk, rock, even a little C/W, but I just never could relate to rap or hip/hop.

yes there are some rap music that i consider as poetry.. those would be the ones that don't talk about b!tches and ******* or anything in that area... those would be the ones that have real life meaning, those which reflect the reality of matters, even maybe some imaginary reality.. but not those who can't stop talking about sexual sh!t...!!!

and i think that most of Tupac's songs' lyrics are all poetry...the way the words are put together i admire that.. even though Tupac sings alot about b!tches and stuff there's still the sense of poetry in his songs.. i just read the lyrics and am amazed..
