Position:Home>Poetry> Does this amuse you?Question:"The Bookworm" There was a boy when I, a boy too Who read the books I read, yet knew he, Of all things, I couldn’t name or tell But even today I suspect, that he didn't read those books But ate them instead For how else could he, one of us, master All the articles including the critics Out of scope and out of essence ─of the high school books? All days' school work, "I can handle" His attitude spake Along with the late night study And he'd be first one to show up At morning coaching classes When we began learning new objects like math and scientific tabulations it was again his pleasure, to startle us --with his ancestral understanding of those subjects The little boy, when I, a boy too Who was fed on all kind of paper And never played with us The game of snake and ladder God bless him, and may he succeed Finally, came handy, all his knowledge thus, without passing a buck, he was admitted to a reputed surgical college... I often wonder the same about certain people I know aswel...Good poem:) Dear Emran The book does not amuse me, for it is a serious poem about a boy who has the desire for knowledge, and works hard to obtain it. Your poem is a lesson for all of us. Knowledge can bring about wisdom and wisdom is the power to do good. Seeking for knowledge does at times leave us isolated from our friends, there must be a balance in our lives if we are to stay in touch with the rest of the world. I like this one Emran. Robert It did amuse me. |
