Position:Home>Poetry> Toad thumping celibacy and spirituality?

Question:Offend not thee sayest the toad but enjoy for refreshment only. Some poems mean only what they say! (inspired by an earlier question)

Ah, the horny toad thumps his call
arise oh maidens far and near
for I seek those who celebrate
the feast... of celibacy

Tis true its spiritual, even lifting
channeling love does build the will
But oh how sweet it is
the night the gate doth open

I'm afraid I find this nonsensical. It's just like you've decided on a style (metaphysical perhaps?), and put down words to reflect it without any thoughts to their meaning. Unless, are we meant to look at it metaphorically? Even then it takes a lot of assumptions to make any sense. Lovely style, just meaningless words.

I saw your earlier version of this in Mary's question. I liked it and I like it even better now. Very creative and clever. I especially like your use of language.

Fantastic. Definately a thriller. I hope that I get to find this toad, someday.

This is great! Superb. I'm going to reread it now and enjoy it all over again.

Wonderful! And yes, "how sweet it is" after absence.

Uh oh, are we still celebrating celibacy, or the dismissal of?

Either way, still a nice read. That is the most important part.
