Position:Home>Poetry> We have heard from Poe, Miss Dickinson and old Bob Frost today. What about T.S.

Question:From "Prufrock and Other Observations" by T.S. Eliot

*****
"...No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be;
Am an attendant lord, one that will do
To swell a progress, start a scene or two,
Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool,
Deferential, glad to be of use,
Politic, cautious, and meticulous;
Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous—
Almost, at times, the Fool.

I found Macavity: The Mystery Cat one of his better ones. Everyone has seen Cats in the theater or on DVD I don't know how many give credit to T.S. Eliot for it. AT whatever time the deed took place--Macavity wasn't There......

The second poem is one of my favorites. By now, you know how much I love the sea and the beach. This poem has made me dream.

What about the Wastelands?

Believe it or not, if this question would have been one asking from quotes by Master Eliot...this is the one I remember most, to quote from...Prufrock loves life, but is none too sure life likes him at all. Does he dare to eat a peach. Does he dare to grow old and still enjoy the things life gives him...or is he too old, too unsure of youthful things to enjoy them, still?

Magnificent selection of T.S., T.D.!!!!!!
