Position:Home>Poetry> Could anyone let me know if this has any grammar or punctuation errors?

Question:Here's my poem: http://www.poetry.com/voteforme/poemvote... I've been accepted as a semi-finalist in their international poetry contest and need to do a final proof. I'm not sure if the 6th line should have a comma or what have you. This wouldn't mess with the flow too much would it? Anyways the help is appreciated and feel free to vote if you like. ; )

Two considerations: The phrase "extreme ferocity" is an example of telling rather than showing us. And when I read "snap crackle " it evokes the image of a bowl of Rice Crispies.
I like the ambiguity of this poem. I had to decide whether it was about guitar playing or rock climbing. As far as punctuation is concerned, I think that poetry allows greater leeway than standard prose, especially considering that the separation of words into different lines serves a purpose similar to that of the comma. Don't worry about it. It's a good poem.

well...i will not even look at your poem, since your question was not "grammatical". the question would be "could anyone let me know if this (insert poem here) has any "grammatical" or punctuation errors"
good luck.

Axe of Rock
by: Robert Glen Ott

A snap crackles through the room,
and the light glows on.
I lock the silver cable in,
and life surges through.

As the pick smashes the strings,
and my fingers fly over the frets,
a barrage of screaming notes
shred through the air, slicing the silence.

The extreme ferocity of the song
sheds momentum, and slows to
a heavy, continous chug.
Slowing more, the last note fades,
and all goes silent.

This is how continuous is spelled.

Good Luck to you.

Perfect your poem by all means, but poetry.com is a scam. Stay away from them.

This from the website mentioned below:

"Poetry.com is a fraud publishing organization that features it's online writing contest. It literally accepts 100% of applicants as 'Semi-finalists' in their 'international poetry competition' and sends a letter to the poor victims. The letter is full of flattery saying that you are a wonderful poet and the 'sectional committee' or 'panel of judges' has decided your poetry is good enough to be published. They ask a 'modest' payment of $50 plus extra if you want your page on a page of it's own. Publishing only those who paid, 6000 poems per book at $50-$75 a poem with 60 books published a year is a lot of $$$$."
