Ennis you said that one was for Aussies but I enjoyed reading it too

Never heard of him mate. But I like those songs about Roos and walkabouts and camping out and what not. Great slang!

Mate, I lived in Grenfell, Lawson's birthplace for some years, and attended the festival in his honour there each year. I like his verses & became very familiar with them. The following is the first verse of my favourite.

Do You Think That I Do Not Know:1910.

They say I never have written of love,
As a writer of songs should do.
They say that I never could touch the strings,
with a touch that is firm & true.
They say I know nothing of women & men,
In the fields where love's roses grow,
And they say I must write with a halting pen,
Do you think that I do not know.

The reason I know that so well is because Slim Dusty, who you mentioned, also wrote that into a song.

I think I know you, is your dad a teacher?
