Question:I don't really understand what Sir Walter Scott means in this:

The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, double dying, shall go down
To the vile dust, from whence he sprung,
Unwepr, unhonored, and unsung.

umm....

the selfish and conceited try too hard to make themselves honored and well known. and by doing that create their own demise as this causes others to despise them.
