Question:Fast Drive- 28-8-07

Do you know the feeling,
Of going fast?
Drifting on the slippery
Sands of reality.
Jumping over the hills
As a free herd of purebreds.

Behind the wheel,
With the pedal to the metal,
And time in your hands.
Forgetting anything, and everything that worries you,
Just absorbing the rush,
Of pure adrenaline.

Racing yourself,
On that long narrow road,
Trying to escape your own conscience,
That accuses you,
And brings to light
The many things you did wrong,
In the race of yesterday.

But then truth strikes in
And you see the cliff,
You realize that no matter how fast you go,
Or how many turns you take,
You will never outrun your problems.

Creeping in and taking over,
Like an unwelcome foe.
Weighting you down,
As a heavy yoke on a free horse,

And you find no way of letting go,
Because you are holding on too tight…

To the steering wheel of your life.

Do you know what....I am going to be completely honest. Of all the poems that I have rated on here I absolutely adore this one. Everything down to the ending!! It has good visual and depth...flows extremely well and there are no awkward parts like some other peoples on here.

I really like it! #1

Wow, great!

What is unorthodox about it? It has an informative title, good use of specific and concrete language that develops vivid images and has a clear literal and metaphorical interpretation. Rather good poem I thought.

I LIKE IT!
