Position:Home>Poetry> This needs tweaking. any suggestions?

Question:A good man is being buried today,
In the churchyard where the pious walk.
The eyes of Mary have turned away,
Past walls that don’t want to talk.

Saint Jude is nowhere to be found,
Though this is his time to shine,
He’s tired of fighting for the underdog,
And now planning to resign, because

A good man is being buried today,
And it wasn’t his turn to die.
A good man is being buried today,
And I cannot help but ask why.

change "good" to a more interesting word, and maybe a few other commen words in your poem. hmm.

It is God's will if someone will pass away so I doubt Mary or any Saint will look away.

sorry if it's rhyming, its purely coincidence.

This won't really help you, but when I write I don't think people will like it. Just wanted to let you know that I liked reading this. I can't think of rhymes so reading them is fun!

I don't see how you could spot this needing tweaking, it's right on the mark. Over tweaking may make it cumbersome, however the last line lets me dangle. The whole poem, you are telling we the readers something important has happened and that we need to pay attention. The poem is saying that we need to know something about this man who died and deserves our sorrow for his passing. The last line brings up too many questions for the reader that we have no way of answering. Or who to ask?

You could never EVER tweak this poem and it will be as good as they come.

I think it's pretty good as is. What do you think needs tweaking? Maybe you could tell us how he died. But that's totally up to you.
