I need help with writing my poem?

Question:I have like a free verse poem to do in Language Arts but I don't know what to write about. I don't want to sound sappy and I don't want to sound like I don't care. It needs to be kinda funny. So can someone help me find a topic to write about? Also what style should I use. In other words Haiku, Limerick, Synesthesia, etc...

Try writing about an emotion... sadness. Use the synesthesia poem. For instance

Sadness smells like milk that is expired by a month

Sadness tastes like the meal eaten alone

Sadness looks like the smile worn off of your favorite teddy bear

Sadness feels like being outside in the cold rain without a jacket and no one to lend you an umbrella

Sadness sounds like a C Minor key ringing to the tone of a thousand violins in the distance

It's not TOO sappy I guess. I don't know. I love to write poetry. Hope this helps!

Maybe the strange occurence in a supermarket when you see someone in an ile -than the next ile by the 3rd pass most people feel weird (its a phenon no one discusses)than you may skip an ile so you dont have to see them(like a bad breakup ) than your going to the checkout and yuo see them in the lane(so uncomfortable-kind of funny not sappy

well you already said what formate you had to write it in. Free verse, meaning no rules. With free verse all rules and structures go out the windows and you do what you want.
Okay for ideas, if you want it to be funny you might want to do it on a funny experience that you might have had and Memories. Usually those are fun to do.
Or you write your own made up story on what ever you want. It could be a totally out there story. Completely random and cute, like when my friend wrote about a flying pladapus with magical powers.
Or you can do a more realistic story. Thats the beauty of writing. The possiblilities are endless. Just have fun with it, you may start out with no idea of what you are doing, but when you finish, you finish. You don't know what you have till your done with it. And somehow it pulls together and comes out really good.
