Position:Home>Poetry> Please answer...about full stops(periods)?

Question:Some poems are like:

blah blah blah.
blah blah blah.
blah blah blah.

or

blah blah blah
blah blah blah
blah blah blah.

blah blah blah
blah blah blah
blah blah blah.

notice the full stop after each stanza or each line. WHY do poets do that? WHy not just a comma?

MY IDEA IS THAT POETS PUT IT TO MAKE THE LINE BEFORE THE PERIOD MORE DRAMATIC...WHAT ELSE?

Ideally, every line should be a separate declarative sentence with a period. I do not achieve this as much as I would like. Personally I prefer to write in iambic pentameter because that is what Shakespeare used.
Pentameter means five feet per line.
A foot is a two syllable word.
Pentameter is ten syllables per line.

The Wild Duck

u / u / u / u / u /
In each of us there is a tiny bit

u / u / u / u / u /
of wild and flighty duck who wills to fall
u / u / u / u / u /
when winged from skies as wide as Winter's call.

An unaccented syllable is denoted by a "u".
An accented syllable is denoted by a "/".

In my opinion, the structure helps me be more creative.

because that's where the essence and idea of the stanza ends. time to make room for a new one.

If there is a period, it denotes the end of a sentence. That's all.

its just showing that they are still talking about the same thing but not exactly the same, but it links in some way so they don't put the full stop. it depends what they are talking about...
