Position:Home>Poetry> How did you get into writing poetry?

Question:I have always loved creating things...but there's something very personal about putting every thought I own into a notebook. Where I can read them anytime I want, and everything's organized. I guess I just want something to keep, something that's my own. I love creating. That's why I love poetry=]

  • i just want to put my ideas in a concrete thing, so i love to write,,, and it frees me from stress...

i really liked this one boy in 11th grade ......got my inspiration from him..........now when ever i write its only if i like someone a lot cause thats when my truest work flows and real emotion is in it other wise i dont write..............i like my poems to squeeze the feeling onto the paper

I first started composing when I read William Shakespeare's masterful sonnets. The desire to put my own ideas and emotions into poetical form was great enough to compel me to write, and I have continued to progress since.

I got into writing poetry, because I can express how I feel. For example.

    A broken winged bird
    that cannot fly
    With loneliness and pain inside
her loved one has flew away
left her alone in the cold
Parent never walked in my shoes
    but continously to fight
They make me wish to have never been born
I feel like I can't stand it anymore
But I am strong and tough
and will strive to carry on
    Hopefully, sooner or later
my broken wings will be healed
    I will wait patiently
because I believe I can fly

It started off with school, then eventually it appeared on my blog, and now I do it twice a week (:

im not sure. ive been writing for a few years so i forget wat made me start writing. i gues it was cuz my friends started writing poetry and i figured that it wouldnt be a bad habit of theirs to try.

Hmm... well, I've written things all my life...but it is very curious because it was only early last year that I had this sudden, compulsive urge to write. Every afternoon after school I would slump down in bed and write away till dinner time. This situation has subsided but it resurfaces every now and then. I enjoyed it very much and actually thought that what I was writing was good and I just loved it. That, of course, is very biased because no one has ever appreciated my poems.

I suppose books and reading the works of the Great have also inspired me to write. Who are the Great? One of them is Shakespeare, of course. (:P)

It all started in 7th grade (which was 15 years ago) when we began our poetry section. Others in my class thought poetry was stupid, but I found (and still do find) it fun.

I WENT TO A VERY SMALL SCHOOL ONLY 600 KIDS IN THE WHOLE SCHOOL. MY ENGLISH TEACHER TAUGHT ME HOW TO SPELL, COMMUNICATE WITH WRITING, RHYMING WORDS AND OF COURSE POETRY, I'VE WRITTEN SOME 600 POEMS FOR ABOUT EVERYTHING, HOWEVER SOME POETRY IS REALLY TOO DEEP, AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT, MINE IS SIMPLE, EASY TO UNDERSTAND, AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT'S REALLY GOOD, TO ME IT'S THERAPY FOR THE SOUL, AND WHEN I'M UPSET ABOUT SOMETHING I WRITE.
