Position:Home>Poetry> What does the last two lines of this poem mean?

Question:In going from room to room in the dark,
I reached out blindly to save my face,
But neglected, however lightly, to lace
My fingers and close my arms in an arc.
A slim door got in past my guard,
And hit me a blow in the head so hard
I had my native simile jarred.
(this line) So people and things don't pair any more
(and this line) With what they used to pair with before.

The last two lines mean that people don't associate one thing with another, when they would have before.

idk with the similie,
So people and things don't pair any more, that means, since shes/he is in the dark, nothing is visible i guess
With what they used to pair with before, she got hit on the head

it means that people they dont mix well or dont like each other

i think the last to lines mean that whoever wrote feels a bit neglected and would not have be for. thats wat it means to me!!

maby i'am wrong but it sounds like people don't stay together as they did before where did you find that saying

It sounds to me like it means that people in the world do not care about each other any more and that the person is trying to escape something or someone in the night.

i truthfully dont know. i would say that some people dont care and dont lead yourself to believe that those people have to care. because why would you want someone to care about you if they didnt REALLY care? i doubt thats right but that is a beautiful poem.
