Question:I was thinking about my father, gone now for nearly fifteen years, when I was twenty-two, and this:

Beyond Compare

My child
You disappoint me
My child
I love you beyond compare

My child
I don't understand you
My child
I love you beyond compare

My child
I cannot listen to you
My child
I love you beyond compare

My child
You turn away from me
You laugh at my old-man ways
You defy me
But I love you beyond compare

My child
I await your maturity
I give you space
I watch you as you become what you will be
When I know I will love you beyond compare

My child
My child
My child
Tell me that you love me
Tell me that you love me
Tell me that you love me as well.

I saw that on a Wendy's bathroom stall once. But instead of "My child" it said "My turd". Strange, huh?

It is very simple in a good way.
Gets your point right there.
Nice work:)

A bit repetetive but that makes it feel a bit angry aswell, as if the point is being drummed into us, so thats a good thing I guess.

i did not sense anger . only the patient love of a parent .
this is as close to real life as it gets. alot of parents have problems with teenagers but they love them and understand.

Very simple indeed, but it touched something in me. Simply because I could hear my father saying the same things.

This made me think of my father too. He's not dead but he was hopelessly inattentive to the way I grew up, always being the wallflower every where.

No comment here.

I don't really know what to say about that.
