Position:Home>Poetry> How is "Mansion in the Darkness"?

Question:This one was inspired by the poem by Elyslund. My thanks for to her. Hope you like it.

Mansion in the Darkness

As darkness spreads it's awesome wings,
And stars the only light.
We sometimes sit and think of things,
That give us such a fright.
The sounds of creatures in the swamp,
The owls hoot through the wood.
I might turn night back into day,
If only that I could.
As on my drink I sit and sip,
On this veranda wide.
The thought I have I will forsake,
To go inside and hide.
You see, I have a purpose here,
I keep a watchful eye.
I watch the darkness all around,
I watch the cloudless sky.
Upon a night much as this one,
He came and took your soul.
To wait for him to come again,
Is my eternal goal.
His hooded face I did not see,
But when he comes, I'll know.
And I will not put up a fight,
With him I'll gladly go.
He'll take me to the place you are,
So we can reunite.
No matter if it's dark as pitch,
Our souls will glow with light.

I am most well honored by this inspiration to write this! It far out -does mine!
Your poem...8-6-8-6 all the way thru...has a timeless quality of love to be re-joined again...by a sitting on the veranda and waiting.
Mine only had the relinquishing of evening to night.
Well done!!! But by your own originality and creativity....what need have you of anyone else but yourself? You looked inside your own mind and wrote this....Hats off to you, Dondi!!!!!

After being out for a while, I come back and find this. It is truly awesome, and the person who was an inspiration for it must truly be just as awesome. I hope someday to write like you, only as you said before, I will be a little different, so it's me and not thee. I love this one.

I see you still know how to spin a tale. Dang, guy, you are too good. I am waiting for the book to come out, I will buy a copy for sure.

How is it?
It's GREAT. I don't know what else to say. Sitting there, waiting for death to come and take you to your love. I could almost here those night sounds and see the hooded figure walking around in the shadows, but not coming up just yet.

Kinda morbid, but I liked it.
Good poem, morbid story, but at the same time, a love story.

Very Nice

Excellent!
Well done friend!

A watcher in the dark waiting to be reunited with his lost love.
What a beautiful and heart felt poem. Your love poems always seem to come from deep withing your soul. Sounds like you are familiar with kind of love. We should all be so lucky. Awesome poem.

This is really awesome Dondi ...I read Elyslund's poem also ' and it's great how you came up with one just as nice as her's ..Nice job ..

As many of my friends on Y!A know, I've been going through exactly what you describe in your poem. I felt, as I read it, as if it had come from my own soul. I wrote a poem in quite different form on this subject, so I really related to this one. The poem itself is beautifully done. I love the meter and the imagery and the contrast of present darkness with future light. This one was special!

It's wonderful......the music of the metre and the beauty of the thought is here again as we always find in Dondi's poems...and this poem reminds me of what Shelley says in his poem 'Adonais'
"No more let life divide what death can join together"

This is a great love poem...
