Question: Is it important to forgive!? and if so, why!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
It is important to forgive because it reflects our awareness of two of our imperfections; namely, that we are going to die and that our knowledge is limited!. All our time can not be focused on past events because we lose the value of the present!. We diminish the value of the "now" for the sake of a hated past!. One cannot have victim-hood define the totality of one's life!. If one was a victim it was the moment or moments that one was being victimized but it isn't the totality of all the moments of one's life!. To dwell in the pain of the past is not to accept and live in the present!. Your life is to going to end so don't let the value of the living present be swallowed up by the painful past!. Our other imperfection is that our knowledge is limited!. It is hard to separate true knowledge from opinion!. We must always be aware of the Socratic point of departure that true awareness of knowledge starts with an awareness of our ignorance!. Don't assume that you have a full understanding of why others acted in the manner they did!. They may have been in the wrong but don't assume they have awareness of that fact!. They're limited also in their understanding of life and their actions like we all are!. These two imperfections of our souls, that we all share, show us why we must forgive!. One must forgive not for the sake of another but for the sake of one's self!. We forgive so one may continue to live a meaningful life!. We forgive the small things committed by others because we understand the smallness of the concern and the limited nature of their knowledge!. We forgive ourselves of our pain when others commit horrible acts because we do not let them establish the value of the present!. We commit to bringing justice to those who have committed horrible deeds but we understand and forgive them because we understand their common humanity!. We forgive the horrible so we don't let the horrible define our life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

is not important in a matter of social values, its more personal to a certain degree!.
