Question: What is life!? Where do you trace the border between alive and dead!?
I found an interesting way to ask this:

There are some bacteria that can produce endospore when their environment turns bad!. This endospore is immovile and doesn't need any resource, so it can spend millions and even billions of years, waiting for conditions to better and when they do, it awakens and produces bacteria!.

Is the dormant endospore a life form!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

all material is alive in a sense

a mountain is an organization of the stuff of the universe, it seems like this organization can be thought of as a type of life or as a definition of life

look at the sun, it exists and is relatively independent, it is ever changing and fluid, it was born and will eventually die, do we define it as alive or dead!?

in this way, anything that we experience can be thought of as alive

I think our modern sense of what is alive and what is not is too limited, fixated on our own life and what is similar to us!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Have you not heard the latest theories about the origins of life!?

Scientists in the lab have tried to create the origins of life in a test tube for decades!. You can form non-living type viruses (defined here as non-reproducing, not motile, not growing and changing) in a mixture of pre-amino acids!. The viruses excrete the building blocks of life and when cells form, the viruses THEN EAT THEM!. These viruses could have mutated into other more lively forms and viruses are the most ubiquitous form of life on the planet!.

The rest of life just exists to feed the viruses!.
I have no idea how they describe the difference between life and not life, or between life and death!.

Sorry if I wasted your time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Frankly I think life is something that is given to us, to try to survive through!. To test to see if it can destroy you, or make you!.
Alive and dead is a truly interesting question in my eyes!.
Honestly I have no idea, to me alive and dead isn't quite a large difference!. Who knows, we all could be dead right now!? We don't know!.!.!.we honestly have no idea as to if we're all living right now at this exact moment!.!.!.who knows, we might not be!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, there are many species that have dormant, deathlike cycles and as long as the code remains intact, it will not only survive long periods of time, but return to the primary form as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
