Question: If before the Big Bang (God's creation if you prefer), what was there!?

To try to keep it simple!.!.!.

To have time, you must have objects in motion!.
"Before" the Big Bang/Creation, you have neither objects nor motion!.
Therefore, you don't have time!.
Thus, you don't, actually, even, have a "before!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's very hard to see "before" the Big Bang, because if you keep tracing everything backwards and keep on going, you eventually hit Planck time and can't really see past that!.

There is a relatively new theory however, called Big Bounce, that says that before this universe, there was another universe, not necessarily with the same laws of nature, that collapsed into the singularity which was the beginning of the Big Bang!. And this cycle repeats eternally!. The new theory uses some new equations involving quantum mechanics I believe!. Look it up at American Scientist, or Scientific American!. One of those two!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Unknown!.

The total energy content of the Big Bang is likely to be zero (the positive energy of all the "stuff" balanced by negative gravitational potential energy)!. So you don't need anything to actually go "Bang"!.

There are various speculations about the origins of the Big Bang!. None have much real evidence (believe it or not, there is a tiny little bit of evidence for "ongoing continuous inflation", see below)!.

One rather attractive idea is that a "Big Bang" is a type of quantum fluctuation that happens by chance once in a long, long, long time in an empty, inflating space containing ground-state quantum fields!. The point is that such an empty, inflating space seems likely to be the endpoint of our own Universe!.

There are various ideas involving higher-dimensional strings and branes and other hypothetical physical thingamagigs from unproven, incomplete theories of physics!.

We are fairly sure there was a period of inflation in the first fraction of a second of the Big Bang!. That inflation stopped!. One variant of that idea is that the "Bang" itself was actually infinitely far in the past, and that the period of inflation is infinite, ongoing, and eternal!. Every once in a while, a piece of this inflating space "drops out" of the inflation, and becomes a "bubble Universe" that is about 10^20 lightyears across!. Our Universe is such a bubble, and there would be an infinite number of such bubbles, with varying physical constants, extending back into the infinite past!. There is a little evidence for this, because you can do statistics with this infinite ensemble of Universes, and thereby calculate and predict ranges of values for as-yet-unknown physical constants!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it depends on if you think that the big bang/creation was the beginning of the universe!.

if it was the beginning, then no physical objects could have existed before!. otherwise, it wouldnt really be the beginning, but merely an event in the history of the universe!.

however, it seems that the universe would have to have had some sort of beginning!. that is, it must be finite!. otherwise, there would be an infinite amount of time before the present!. this would be impossible since an infinite amount of time could never pass before we came to the present!. we could never have gotten to now!.

the problem is: what started the universe!? whatever it was, it could not be the same kind of stuff as the universe!. otherwise, we have to ask what started that and so on ad infinitum until we run into our infinity problem!. so something that itself did not need to be caused had to have caused the universe!. at that point, we can speculate that this immaterial force (since it cant be material like the universe) is personal or impersonal!. the problem with suggesting an impersonal force is two-fold:

1!. for all causal events, we see that whenever everything necessary for it to happen is in place, the event spontaneously occurs!. it doesnt just decide to occur when its good and ready!. that would be personal volition!. but if everything werent already in place to cause the universe, then what caused those things to fall into place to start the universe!? we run into the infinite past problem (or infinite regress) again!.

2!. an impersonal force as causation for the start of the universe means that everything has been placed in motion by this force!. which means that everything that happens has been caused like a set of dominos!. which is another way of saying everything is causally determined!. then you have no free will, you only do or think what the chemicals in your brain has caused, and those chemicals only do what theyve been caused to do by previous chemical, biological, and natural processes all the way back to the start of the universe!. you only think you have a choice in the matter!. but you dont!. youd be like a complex creation of dominos in a universe of dominos!. free will would be an illusion!.

on the other hand, if the beginning of the universe was enacted by a personal force, then free will is possible!. this personal agent is what theists call god!. this doesnt mean that christianity or islam is true (although they might be for other reasons)!. it just means that a personal agent seems to make more sense for the start of the universe than a non-personal agent!.

its been popularly asked, what created god!? but ive explained that there had to have been some immaterial force that was not created that started the universe (otherwise you have an infinite past)!. and it seems that it makes more sense to think that this immaterial force was personal rather than impersonal, since its difficult to see how an impersonal force would "decide" to spawn a universe!. and if it didnt decide, what made it act!? something else!? then you have the problem of infinite regress again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Before the BIG BANG, there was a group of super intelligent alien scientitsts saying
"What could have go wrong with this LITTLE BANG experiment!?"
"If anything goes wrong, we won't have any opportunity to say 'oops' "
"Don't worry, we are EXPERT in explosion"Www@QuestionHome@Com

The big bang like the evolution are still just theories!.!.!.so God created everything but you know for some people that just too simple to understand!.!.!.it must have been something else huh!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
