Question: Science and God!? M!. Scott Peck!.!?
M!.Scott Peck in his book The Road Less Traveled said:

The use of measurement has enabled science to make enormous strides in understanding of the material universe!. But by virtue of its success,measurement has become a kind of scientific idol!. The result is an attitude on the part of many scientists of not only skepticism but outright rejection off what cannot be measured!. It is as if they were to say, "What we cannot measure, we cannot know; there is no point in worrying about what we cannot know; therefore what cannot be measure unimportant and and unworthy of our observation"!. Because of this attitude many scientists exclude from their serious consideration all matters that are- or seem to be-intangible!. Including of course, the matter of God!.

He speaks of a "Scientific tunnel vision" and also suggests an emerging change in attitude towards the merging of science and faith!. He believes there is a growing acceptance of Paradox and that true mental health comes from a kind of belief in both conventional science and faith combined!.

What do you think!?
Do we have to choose faith over science!?
Or can the 2 find a place of coexistence!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Very very VERY interesting!. I think we have to find a common place of coexistence!. Like everything else in our lives!.!. most things are give and take!. Science hasn't been able to fully explain the anamolies of the world (yet, perhaps)!. I think that as rational beings science prevails with force but faith finds its place in the inexplicable with strength!. Without one or the other we would be lost, with both we cover all the bases and don't conform to extremities!.
Great Question!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When he wrote that book, he was doubting his xianity b/c of inconsistencies and paradoxes!. He dabbled in some eastern religions!. Thru these, he learned to accept paradoxes and went back to xianity!.

That should be all you need to know!. He learned to accept paradoxes and inconsistency, so returned to his root religion!. "Nuff said!.

Religion = faith = delusion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think that as we discover more about the universe we will gain a deeper understanding of god, i think that science will reveal god not obscure him/herWww@QuestionHome@Com

What can you measure!? How far can you go with it!? Can you measure God!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

God is Science!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Science would not be interested in Jesus walking on water, simply because they could not make Him do it over and over again, for them, in their laboratories, until they figured out how to use it themselves!.

Science measures atoms; it does not recognize soul or God!. Mystics with credentials, e!.g!. Jesus, say the kingdom of heaven is within, one is to champion the childlike and heal the greedy, skeptical, foolish, etc!. childishness!.

After the quantum revolution in physics, which brought in the truth that Mind does not leave matter-energy traces when downloading to particular brain, scientists have found that indeed there are more events that seem to allow for God, than classical Newtonian physics did!.
