The average individual is afraid of being hurt, disabled or killed by things unknown!. Such as fear of great heights,bungee-jumping, speech-making, deep water, high speeds, flying, grave-yards, haunted buildings, ghosts, poisonous plants or animals, rottweillers, sharks, insane persons, pedophiles, potential criminals, etc, etc!.
It is quite impossible to find any normal person who is completely devoid of phobia of anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

its not the unknown so much that we fear but the perceptions that we put in our own minds and convince ourselves are real!. we assume the worst and then our own brain makes it worse its not the unknown but the lack of anything familiar that we can relate to that gives some understanding on the subject!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We fear the unknown because how do responded to the unknown!? We don't know how to act or what to say or even what to do!. It's like saying why do we fear death!? because we don't know what's on "the other side"!. People don't like being unprepared!. We hate the unknown or we're terrified by it!. We can't predict it!. Because of how people raised us!. If we grew up not fearing anything, we wouldn't fear the unknown!. we would love it! People these days are stressing out, making things up, become crazy!. But that is what they call change!. It's because we see movies, and we know they aren't real, but we want to believe they are!. So the brain makes it fear!. Some people say the earth will stand still, and we will all die!. No matter if you believe that or not, there will always be a part of you being scared of it, maybe because you are scared of dieing, or scared of seeing your friends and family die!. well!.!. i think that we fear the unknown because its different from our normal lives and we are scared of it!. We don't want anything to change, so we are afraid and that gives us fear!. Fear is also something that is overwhelming you but you have to try to overcome it, its the only way!. i hope this was help!.
