Question: Question/discussion inspired by Billy Connolly!?
Alright, consider a microscopic being in a pond!. They don't really have any idea we exist, because he are just too huge for them to consider!. So, why isn't it the same for humans!?

If you look at an atom, it's one sphere (nucleus) being circled by other spheres (electrons, neutrons)
So, compare that to a solar system

One sphere (sun) being circled by other spheres (planets)

Could it be that we are just living on an atom of some monstrously large object, like a teacup or a chair leg!.

Think of it the other way too: could everything we have around us be a whole universe!?

Any thoughts!? also, please no Christians saying that i'm wrong and i'm going to hell because i'm wrong!. That really gets me!. I appreciate intelligent input however!.

yes, I quite often think that!.

I think a lot of people don't agree with that because they simply cannot imagine the scale of just how hug the universe is/could be!. I mean, it slightly freaks me out when I start thinking about just how huge it is - it's so hard to imagine!.

Plus, a lot of people don't like to accept there is other possibilities if there isn't proof or enough facts to say it's true, therefore, they disregard it as a load of 'crap'!.

Why should we be so ignorant to think that we are the only life there is!?!? I'm an atheist, but I guess being religious could affect these views, as they feel God only created life on earth!.

Chances are, we will never know the correct answer, but it's very interesting to think about, and I think there is a good possibility that there is a wholee universe out there that we will never know about, and the chances of there being life on other planets is also a good possibility, there are many other planets that we already know about!. Why should earth be the only planet out of many to have life on it!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, actually that is how it works!. We just can't see higher reality with ordinary consciousness!. For us to see the REAL world, we would have to penetrate two higher states of consciousness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually that's a very common thought!.

Very likely we are a tiny part of some larger entity that is part of a larger entity still on and on!.

More so what happens when that table leg in your example is burned as firewood one day or dry rots or what if we are in that segment of the leg that a kid drives the toy into!? What is the impact on us down here at the molecular level!?

Another common perception is that we are an atom in a cell (the universe) As such are we normal beneficial cell operations or is some equiv of a white cell going to come gobble us up if we are noticed!?

Then you have the opposite direction!. If we are but atoms then our atoms are whole galaxies and universes!. That has some rather interesting moral delemas!.

For example if you are bruised does it destroy entire solar systems or universes!? What if you die, do you take untold civilizations with you in the process!?

What is more interesting to think of is what if those atoms that comprise us are smarter than we are as atoms!. What if they rebel and want to leave to be part of something else!?

The potential impact is of course relative to the scale!. A single atom leaving wouldn't be noticed but what if each solar system was an atom and a galactic council comprising of billions of atoms decided you don't eat healthy enough and wanted to depart to be part of a tree or something!?

Then there are the twists of first realization that you are part of another living organism and the real kink in thoughts about what happens if your sub parts start literally talking to you!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
