Question: How different would we be without television!?
How would we perceive the world, relationships, joy!.!.!.etc!.

Would families be closer!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Well thats a tough question!. TV has been with us for such a short time but it has been one og the biggest most amazingly profound influences on how we life and perceieve things!.
I think!.!.!. My family would be closer and Id have read more books and done more homework and be less fat!. But who knows what my opinions would be, what my tastes and preferences and even personality would be!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

As long as there's some kind of 'real-time' media receiver in the home, there probably wouldn't be much perceivable difference!. Seriously, if you look at images (namely advertisements) of families gathered around the radio in the living room (you know the ones, father with his pipe and mother in her apron!.!.!.), they're almost identical to advertisements for televisions later on!. Obviously, those images weren't remotely realistic, but the idea was still the same regardless of the technology!.
Newsreels might make a comeback, in which case we'll be going out more to our local theaters to get information on the latest candidates or sports scores or war coverage!.
I don't think families would be closer but I don't think we'd be any less informed; we'd just have to work a little harder at the latter and be presented with more opportunities for the former!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

we would have more mimicker of sounds & vision (if possible of others)!.!.!.!.artists!.!.!.TV in later stage of art!.!.!.!.TV is not new thing; it existed since antiquity!.!.!.people has been doing what TV is doing!.!.TV simply shortened time & space!. Reduction in time & space is mental than physical!. Transport may have reduced time & space in body, but it also increase space & time due to I think oil price, poverty gap, work place location, etc which in turn causing movement people & disintegration of family limiting bodily contact!. Computer & Wall Street crisis have a significant influence to reduce bodily contact!. I believe love, emotion, family, etc to be a meaningful entity as existing in nature it has to fulfill contact in bodily, mental & spiritual spaces!. But TV & related things gave more assignment to mind than in bodily & spiritual life of people!. A mind dissociated from body & spirit faculties is not a normal one, & is responsible for 'illusion' surrounds the original concept of family, marriage, love,!.!.the likeWww@QuestionHome@Com

We would be more content, that's for sure!.

We wouldn't be yearning for things that don't really matter!. We would be more creative, exploring things beyond the comfort of our couches!.

We would be more knowledgeable, we would be more sociable, we would learn to think for ourselves and not carry around another person's beliefs and principles!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

if we didn't have TV i think some of our social problems would be solved!.

we learn a lot from the tube!. the TV is a window and a lot of us only look through that window!. we never really stop to "smell the roses!." we just observe what we see on that and that's how some people actually view the world!. and they never go out and venture and discover the world on their own!. they only "replay" what they see on TV through their interactions with people!. does that make sense!?

i think there is a disconnect in the world today when it comes to face to face interaction!. people have a hard time communicating, because it's become so easy now with technology to talk to anybody anyway without being there in person!. texting, the internet, myspace and what not!.

i'm not saying they are bad, but i think they have a tendency to make people insensitive and non communicative in ways we should be!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Life would be better without television!.!. plain and simple!.!.
People would have better social skills, better relationships with their friends and family, without TV there would probably be no video games and that sort!. People would be less violent (I believe media promotes violence), people would be happier in general in my opinion!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think families would be closer!.!. I mean take a look at my sister, i go into her room to talk to her and she's watching tv and she's like "GET OUTT!!!!" AND ITS LKE MEH!.!.!.

I think people would be more active and more!.!.!. you know spend more quality time!. I think our relationships with everyone would be healthier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it was not that long ago people had NO tv!.

I don't think they were better off for it!. It's our ABUSE of the technology!. Making it everything from a baby sitter to a porn device!. WE not TV are the problem!. And populations growing far too quickly to be accommodated by culturesWww@QuestionHome@Com
