Question: If there is no "now" the am I living in the future or the past!?
I know some people don't believe that there is a "now" as the now that we have just spoken about is already in the past!. So if there is no now what are we living in!? Is it the past, future or a balance of the two!? Is the term "now" just referring to the fence we sit on between future and past!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

The reference that people speak of it terms of there being no "now" is a reference to a conventional way of looking at temporality!. All claims of past, present, and future are bound to the human language!. We often use the language that we speak to form ideas!. In turn we use these ideas to describe our reality!. This could be considered false by many thinkers!. Granted most of my philosophical bent is towards Buddhist/Eastern thought, but at what moment do you think of things in the future and in the past!. We use the story line of our life's past, present, and future to try and preserve a sense of ego, or a sense of solidity to our experience that is my belief doesn't exist in the first place!. Memories come and go!. Hopes or fears of the future come and go!. But every time we experience our lives it is in the now, for there is no other time that exists!. Finally a book suggestion: Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now, a personal favorite!.

Good journey to you all of you who are trying to unlock the mysteries of time!. It is a noble pursuit!.

Thanks for the question, and have a nice now!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If there is no "now" the am I living past and future becomes a reality of the two elements merging together!. Imagine: being the reality of yesterday's dream!. This would figuratively justify one having lived in the past and becoming the future!. Example: As a child I dreamed of becoming an artist, I became an artist, therefore I am a reality of yesterday's dream!.
Time is a significant factor with respect to this theory!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Whoever taught you that there is no "now", is incorrect!. There is ONLY the now in life!. Think about it!. Where do you really live in 'this moment' is if not "now"!? The past is already gone!. Each second that ticks by, is no longer valid!. I like to think that life is measured by our hearbeats!. Each beat lets us know exactly where we are!. There is really no future, as our life is so fragile it could literally end in the blink of an eye!. However, it is good to have dreams and set goals!. They are the things that we need to work towards to give us motivation!. But living "now" is the only reality!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are living in a melding of your most immediate expectations with your most vivid memories!. So !.!.!. both!. The instantaneous "now" that supposedly separates memory from expectation is geometrically thin -- and in that sense a fiction!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
