Question: Does this classify as murder!?
Someone, for some reason or another, thinks another person deserves to die!. They kill the other person!. That's murder, yes!?

Then why does the government get away with it every day!?

Someone commits a crime, and a few people decide that he should die!. First of all, who are they to decide what happens with his life!? Who are they to take the life of another human being!? So they kill him!. This, to me, is murder!.

So how does the government justify killing people!?

"Why do we kill people who kill people to show people that killing people is wrong!?"Www@QuestionHome@Com

i understand where you are coming from, but i disagree!. i think that you are missing a major point, and that is that the government does not decide whether somebody should die!. the person who commits a crime gets a trial and his/her fate is decided by a jury of their peers!. this may not be perfect system by far, but it is the best we have!. the difference between an individual killing another person they believe should die and that person being sentenced by a judge and jury is that the judge and jury made their decision as unbiased as possible and has seen all the evidence and heard all points of view before coming to a decision!. what if the individual who killed this criminal was wrong!? what is they weren't a criminal!? and if you have a problem with judging somebody else's guilt whether it is an individual or a jury doing it, let me ask you this!. if you saw somebody killed by another person, would you still want that person around!? would you want them walking around, possibly killing even more people!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I say that no matter who does the killing, it's murder no matter what!. Regardless of what another has done, I think that no one has the right to decide what is done with their life!. I feel very strongly against capitol punishment!. The government has no more moral/ethical right to think what they do is right over the person they decide to put to death!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the government justifies it by saying that if you kill one you save the lives of many!. they say they are doing it for our protection!. they use that magical word freedom and people think "ok well then it can't be so bad"!.
i da know why but it just makes me think about when i was a kid if one kid hit another kid the one kid's mom would hit them!. never made any sense to me!. you want peace you need to teach it not just preach it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Are you saying that we shouldn't kill Osama Bin Laden!? That guy planned and followed through on a plan to kill 2,000+ people!.

Adolf Hitler!? Making Germany into a superpower and could have possibly taken over the world!? He killed 6 million people who had nothing to do with the war!. (Jews) I don't want a guy like that running our world!.

Charles Manson!? Multiple killings!? Do you really want to let that guy live and have the possibility that he could escape and come after you next!? (His execution was dropped do to abolition of the death penalty)

Saddam Hussein!? He tortured his people and had his guard pillage the country HE RAN! He was becoming a threat do to WMDs in his possession!. I know we didn't find any but he had 6 months to destroy all of evidence of WMDs before the UN got into the country!.

I've made my point!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no!. the government is not a someone you doofus!. capitol punishment is not murder because when you live in a civilized society you agree to play by that society's rules!. which includes when you break the law the government of that society has the right to punish you!. it is not murderWww@QuestionHome@Com

no it is social patriotism , biblical eye for eye, it is defence of what ever system is called capitalism, democracy, communism, fascism, choose one or all of it, but do not call it murder, system does not like it!. It is always ready to punish if it does not like something!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Normally, only the worst of criminals are given a death sentence!.This is generally because they first killed others!. We decide to put them to death so they don't repeat their actions!. They are generally the ones guilty of multiple murders, torturing others or other heinous crimes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If "someone thinks another person deserves to die" in order to defend themselves or another person, it is not murder, its self-defense!.

The death penalty is not chosen to be a punishment by " a few people", it is the law of the land (and supported by the overwhelming majority of the population, by the way)!. This is also why the government "gets away with it"!. (Now that this question is answered, how does the government get away with allowing victims to die by paroling known murderers who kill again!?)

We don't kill people who kill people to show people who kill that killing people is wrong!. We kill people who kill people to show other people who might kill people that people will kill THEM if they kill people!. We also kill people who kill people so the people who kill people will not kill MORE people!. Duh!

In other words, It's a deterrent, not a moral lesson!. Very little of our penal system is designed to teach the bad guys better ways!. They're designed to A: make the penalty of the crime more unpleasant than the benefit of the crime, and B: get the perp off the street!. Getting a murderer off the street permanently makes sense, especially to the potential victim!. Life in prison doesn't do that!. They either kill fellow prisoners, or get out and kill, or kill from prison!. Like the 3 teenagers killed by the last guy executed in California !. !. !. by a guy serving a life sentence!Www@QuestionHome@Com

In philosophy murder is defined as "unjustified killing"!. The only unjustified killing is the killing of someone who has the right to live!. Everyone is born with the right to live!. However, anyone who violates one person's right looses they're right!. If you violate one persons right to life you loose you own!. Simply put, it is not MURDER to kill a murder!. Just as it is not theft if the government takes a stolen car away from a thief!. It is wrong to let a murder go free on the streets, and it is wrong to keep a murder alive at the expense of those who dont value his life!. In principle, the death penalty is not murder!.

With that being said:
A person either objectively derserves to live or does not, it is not up to anyone's opinion (as user:Garret suggests)!. Just because the whole world says that a person deserves to die doesn't mean that person derserves to die!. Just because the whole world says a person deserves has the right to live doesn't mean he does!.
It is not up to anyone's opinion as to whether someone is a murder or not; the state could declare an innocent person guilty of murder and that person would still be innocent!. You can not have subjectively violated someones rights!.
It is not quite so easy in reality to KNOW if a person is a murder!. To KNOW if a person is a murder his guilt must be proven with out any doubt before a rational thinking person!. Unfortunately, it is unclear to me if anyone is capable of thinking rationally all the time (I hope it is)!. An irrational judgment could result in an additional murder, this time preformed by the state!. The way the courts are set up minimizes the chance of this happening!. But if one innocent person is given the death sentence and it is carried out, the judge, prosecuting lawyer, and the entire jury should be charged with 1st degree murder!.

And with that being said:
You seem to be under the misimpression that "people are people"!. Do you really think that all people are equal!? Would you argue that Barack Obama has equal value as a human being to Adolf Hitler!? Would you argue that Martin Luther King jr!. had no more right to live than Ted Bundy!? All people are created equal, what we do after that determines what caliber of person we are!. We shouldn't kill people to show that killing people is wrong!. We should kill a murder, who has no rights, who deserves nothing, who is owed nothing, because it is cheaper than keeping him alive and we can't let him back into society!. A murder is a different kind of human than you or me!. We have the right to live, a murder voluntarily gave his right to live up!.

So:
If there is a serial killer (who you KNOW with out any doubt what so ever to be guilty) who is sentanced to death, and you want him to stay alive; then you and everyone else who doesn't agree with the death penalty should be willing to pay the entire cost for his food, water, medical care, pay for his guards, tax on his cell, and all other expenses for the remainder of his life!. Just dont go make big brother make me help pay for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
