Question: How did humans develop consciousness!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
One presumes it's the inevitable result of increasing intelligence!.

As one makes more distinctions regards the world, eventually one becomes aware of self!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Though I could not get into the specific details, it all has to do with the cerebral cortex, especially the frontal lobes, which is in high relation with intelligence as another poster has said!. The reason humans are so much further developed than other animals is due to the difference of the size of our cortex's!.
I've read once of a baby who, due to flaw in it's genetics, was born without any cerebral cortex!. Still had every organ in the brain, but no cortex!. These organs were (almost) enough to basically keep it alive, but do nothing more!. If this baby were to have survived, it never would have had any consciousness, none at all!. It would never even know it was alive, it would never have been able to see/hear/smell/feel/taste/perceive anything around it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like Phoenix's answer!. A world that sees our journey as a curious knowledge seeking, experience gathering adventurer would easily make that go together!. But it doesn't even have to be that way I suppose!. Just survival alone can teach us how to solve problems!. I think there should be alot of emphasis on the physical aspect or the self, but hopefully your inquiry included the total package!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I presume that a Consciousness develops humans and this is very long process we are all going throughWww@QuestionHome@Com
