Question: Why does time seem to go by so fast!?
I've heard people say that time seems to go by faster the older you get!.!.!. I can't help but think that's true!. Like, this year has gone by SO fast!. I remember celebrating New Year's Eve for '08, and already '09 is coming up on us!.

Is there any reason why I (or people in general) feel this way with time!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've read the possible explanation of this feeling long time ago!. When you're young, one year is a big fraction of your life!. For example if you're ten the last year was a tenth of you life!. In contrast, when you're older the fraction (year) that just passed is less and less (one twentieth, one fortieth, etc)!. In other words, the longer you live the shorter every fraction of your life is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A week Used to feel about as long as a month now feels to me!.
A week feels like only 3-4 days to me now, depending on the week!.

I have been wondering about this too!
My memory is less intense and I care about less details
sometimes, depending upon the detail!.
My perspective is certainly a bit different, in some ways
better and in some ways worse!.
My birthday is soon, so it makes me think of these
things more too! - does not help (or does help)!.

Anyway I have been out of school for 10 years and it
seems like not that long at all - maybe half that amount!

Life goes by faster and faster each year and it is kind of
frustrating because I want to enjoy and do all I can and can't
seem to fit everything in the time I have!
It makes me start to give up and just enjoy what I
can enjoy at least!

I think I make more goals for myself than before and at the same time am expected to do more (and have more various opportunities) so it seems jammed up sometimes, I just like doing one thing and at
least finishing that one thing before I move on to something
else (with as few distractions as possible)!. I also seem to have
less time to think and be creative as I want to, but that
does not mean I don't have enough time at least sometimes!
I still want to do so much and have not totally given
up on my "war" or battle with time (or against time)!

Some things are easier and I breeze through the minutes
and some things are harder (like seeing just how fast time
can go by)!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Time for humans is a function of learning!. When you learn new things you form mental pathways and these represent time to your consciousness!. When you are a child everything is a lesson and time seems to go on forever!. As you get older, IF you stop stretching yourself, time devolves into routine functions like tying your shoes and time flies by faster and faster!.

Your first day at a new job or school always seems longer!. Try something new and stretch your experience of time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hello,

Kudos to Paralbar! I never heard that before and I hope he gets 10 points for something different and original!.

also when you are young your life is not set to time frames and bi-weekly or monthly schedules or deadlines where you are constantly looking and watching out for time limits on work to finances that govern your life!.

Now people living in more primative environments like the jungles of the Amazon or Borneo may not have similar feelings for time!. I remember back in the 70's some of my coworkers were working in remote parts of Indonesia!. They had to warn Japanese not to go off the beaten path since some of the tribes there were not treated well by Japan when she occupied the area 30 - 40 years before and to them, that was like only several weeks ago!.

Oh well, about time flying - none of us can say we were not warned!

Cheers,

I agree!. I remember sitting in elementary school begging the minutes to go by!. Now it's like you get up Monday morning, dreading work, and the next thing you know, it's Friday afternoon!.!.!.

I def think time goes faster the older you are, maybe because you have more on your mind!? More things to think about would obviously take up more time than thinking about only a few things!.!.!. I dunno!Www@QuestionHome@Com

When you're little everything is new and important, so as you're taking everything in, you don't pay attention to the time!.
But as you get older it gets boring, and everything is the same and you can't remember as much, so time speeds on faster!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
