Question: Who among you read the work of Ayn Rand!? And how did you find the same!?

I loved her books, because they were so idealistic, and distopian at the same time!. They definitely made me look at politics differently, as well as Capitalism itself!. Were the characters stiff!? Absolutely!. Was I reading it for characterization and development!? No!. These books are treatises and parables about free markets and capitalism, they are vehicles for an idea much like Thomas Moore's Utopia, Skinner's Walden Two, and Huxley's Brave New World!. I loved the books because they really make you THINK about the part human empathy and compassion play in economic forces surrounding ideas like communism, socialism and welfare as seen through the eyes of an author who had experienced all three!. If I were going to teach literature I'd do an entire year on her and other utopian writers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I’ve read all books written by Ayn Rand and can’t find a better philosophy which we all should live by, Objectivism!.
With the economic crisis in the US and the nationalization of a few industries one might believe Atlas Shrugged was prophetic!.
The time is perfect for Objectivism especially in the US as we have now clearly seen the fallout of the Altruistic philosophy of Kant and the like!.

I loved them even though I disagreed with them, especially with her take on helping others!. I think she's got strong opinions and not afraid to voice them!. However, the rape scene in one of her books (I forget if it was The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged) is offensive, and most of her characters are stiff and unbelievable!.

I was quoting one of the books just last week; they're still very popular!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read Atlas Shrugged, and it changed my life!. It gave definition to what I have always felt!. Now, years later, I still think of everything in terms of rational self interest, and I could not be more focused and sure of myself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Her books are vehicles to push her Objectivist philosophy!. It has a certain appeal, especially to young people without much life experience!. Rand was clearly an emotionally stunted person and her outlook on her fellow human beings reflected it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ayn Rand characters were totally unrealistic!. Way too idealistic for me to digest!. Capitalism is dying by the way!.

I read Atlas Shrugged and Fountain Head!.
Didn't like 'em!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
