To ask questions which lead you to better questions!. This is the root of philosophy!. Many philosophers have spent their entire lives asking the entirely wrong questions!. Accept that there may not be an answer to your question, accept that life is in flux, it is ever changing, ever evolving, and can never be truly captured!.

In the end, philosophy serves one purpose to which these questions are directed and that is an ethical desire!. Ethics is what informs the way you live your life, what is the 'true' life, and what is the 'right' or 'meaningful' life!.

To the question of what is 'true' you might consider epistemology, metaphysics, ontology, the philosophy of language, philosophical logic, the philosophy of mathematics, and the philosophy of science!.

To the question of what is 'right' or 'meaningful' you might consider political philosophy, moral philosophy, and the philosophy of religion!.

This isn't something to be overwhelmed by, you do not need to know any of this, really, to be a philosopher!. All the books in the world are secondary, it is the seeking that is fundamental, the desire to know, and the courage to be a better human being which is key!.
