At this point, because george w!. bush (I can't capitalize his name) was considered the quintessential republican, there is no consistent republican philosophy!. By governing in his way, he has in effect split the Republican party into the social conservatives and corporate, or fiscal, conservatives!. After this election, there will be a Republican civil war, assuming Obama wins!.
The only thing I will mention that isn't in the wiki article, is that the 'conserve' in conservative refers to conserving existing social institutions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Republicans are supposed to based on conservativism, but this is not always the case!. Conservatives believe that individuals should be free to do anything they want, so long as it doesn't harm other people!. Republicans add in a large dose of Christianity, meaning they won't support prostitution or polygamy!. Their concern is not to help any group of people, but to give everyone fair treatment under the law and that's it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Low taxes across the board to include the rich and big corporations!. The idea is that jobs will be created and thus national income will increase!. With more income to tax, the government will have more income as well!. Republicans are more stingy than Democrats when it comes to social serves!.
