Actually "astronomy" is kind of a dead field in the sense that the term itself still embodies many superstitions!.
If you are interested in science then you should study cosmology!.
If you are interested in the ancient superstitions surrounding the position of the stars in the night, which is steeped in myth and legend, than there is much work you can study also!.
Even though astronomy is the start of the pseudosciences and navigation, the strict and methodical approach to the study of our universe has moved beyond the tracking of the stars visible to the naked eye!.
Humanity now understands the universe with a depth that would astound most ancient astronomers and the profoundness of our knowledge is beyond some of the wildest dreams of our ancestors!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Philosophy of science is a huge and interesting field!. You can definitely combine the two!.
As a philosophy student myself I would actually advise against 'concentrating on your philosophy studies'!.!.!. as with any art, it can get very stale if you have no outside interests to apply it to or understand in relation to your studies!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mix the two!.

I have taken a liking to evolutionary biology recently, and i apply that to philosophy!. I'm sure if you think about it, you can mix what you find out in Astronomy and bring that with you in your philosophy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

philosophy is never a hindrance it can accomodate astronomy, just take them both!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
