I do suffer from clinical depression, and I know EXACTLY what you mean!. I have been on the top of the mountain, and I have crashed down it right after!. Coming down hurts a lot more than getting up, which only adds to the pessimistic attitudes!. The past 5 years of my life have been absolute hell, full of things I have tried to rid myself of that same feeling you were talking about, and I've finally realized that there isn't anything you can take to make it go away!.
This will seem weird, but I think I cured myself by becoming "enlightened!." I have finally learned that the world is going to constantly suck, but I don't have to accept it!. I can make it better!. I can make it stronger!. Now, everyday, I find a way to do exactly that!. It has really improved my moods, it's helped me start to care about people again!. I know it sounds stupid, but it worked for me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When I was a teenager, the emotional swings were more than I could handle!. I chose to view the world in a sardonic and cynical manner to keep myself from those sickening highs, and as for the lows, well they are actually easier to handle in some ways!.

But as a person who has dealt with crushing depression for most of my adult life, I can hardly hold myself up as an exemplar or anything!. But I can avoid feeling good better than almost anyone!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Seek the peace and solitude you need within yourself!. Be at peace with the world and know that while you have a place and a function, it may not be anything great, but should a chain be missing a link, it cannot reach the shore!. Life will only yield the joy and beauty you find there!. Look deep! For it is always there!. Strive to be happy that you do not find the world to be a dull and dreary place!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ups and downs are a regular part of life!. You can't be crazy stupid happy all the time or you'll never appreciate it!. It's when the gaps between up and down get larger, and longer!. When the depression is severe, and the up/manic feelings are uncontrollable or cause you to do things you normally wouldn't - that you should worry about!. It might be temporary, it might be an effect of what's going on in the world right now, it might be that you need to work harder at being happy as you get older!. Could be genetic!. Could be environmental!. Heck, it could be that you've developed a sensitivity to sugar or wheat or something as you've gotten older!. Keep a journal, track it!. See if you can find a pattern!. That's what I've done!. Good luck!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
