In the strictest definion no, but, A!.I!. asumed the "soul" doesn't exist, so, if all it takes for there to be a person is a complex enough brain, by that definition then yes he was!. Within the atheist context of the movie, yes, David was a person, if all it takes to make a person, is a complex enough brain!.

~Do the swintons have the moral obligation to!.!.!.!.
As a sentient being yes they did; they had no right to just discard him when they got their own son back!. Most white Americans have the attitude of "its mine; I can do whatever the hell I want with it!." Well if we are gonna use that logic; Osama Bin Laden's terrorists are his, he can do whatever the hell he wants with them!. Right!? Its hard to put that logic into words, but I'm sure my illustration made the point clear as to the moral obligation of the Swintons!.
~Does society!.!.!.!.
Here is my most cold hearted answer; for the environment's sake, yes!. Using and discarding mechas like that created gross amounts of pollution!. Some of the most dangerous objects to the environment, the biggest land and river killers, are none other than computers!. Computers as complex as mechas would do unbelievable harm to the environment and the irresponsible manner in which they were discarded was not just disgusting, it was also dangerous and stupid!. A single mecha probably had enough toxins in it to kill half a forest; the chemistry involved to make just one of those things has to be complex right!?
~Society justified!?
Am I justified for taking a dump in the glass I use 5 minutes later to drink milk out of without removing the feces first!? Again, this goes back to the environmental issues; more because of an environmental argument, than their, ah, "humanity," I would be for sanitary disposal of the mechas at least, and to satisfy emotional people, painless deactivation!.
~I probably would have had David deactivated; knowing full well he would outlive all of my family, crap man, put him out of his misery! I mean, the argument regarding David comes down to the same arguments regarding abortion; a woman cold hearted enough to do that, should not be breeding to start with so I say let her do it, let women have a choice!. Rather than have the state Penn fry her serial killer son, as evil women raise evil men, it is better if she did law enforcement's job well before any lives were taken!. A woman, can badly wreck the emotions of a man if she has had a lifetime to do damage to him; if there is a blood relation, the damage has got to be unreal!. Me!? I suffered from abuse by a psychotic whore all my life, but I can be cold hearted about it and brush it off, simply because we are not blood relatives!. Now, if it was my own biological mother who did to me what that psycho did crap man, let me tell you, I would probably be hurting, and BAD!. Probably bad enough to be a serial killer; when someone unrelated does something, it hurts, but only a superficial level you will eventually forget unless its something serious like rape, however when a blood relative does something bad and hurtful to you, it can smart for years!. The fact that I am not a criminal psychopath in prison from having canibalized someone is one of the ways I knew, suspected, a long time ago, that we were not related, figuring that if we were, the abuse would hurt badly enough, to make me angry enough to actually kill!. However I have not done that, and I still have my sanity, at least most of it!.

I know from bitter experience that sometimes it is better to not be even born, especially with malicious baby stealing ashkenazi whores running around; I swear to God man, ANY ashkenazi woman gives me crap, I will f*cking destroy her, tear her f*cking head of verbally!. After what one of them did to my mom, I am not ready to take bratty b*tch **** from ANY of them!. Israeli and American Jewish men may be big enough p*ssies to bend over and take it, but I sure as hell won't!.

My situation, was indeed very similar to David's in fact I think my real name is David!. As someone who can speak for the character, more or less, I say, he should have been shut down!. There are people out there, who would psychologically abuse me, and physically assault me, knowing what happened to me, what was done to my family but its alright though, its alright; I am almost hoping they will physically assault me so that I can cut loose!.

Sorry about that; the movie made my blood boil, with me it hit a little too close to home!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
