"Happiness is like a crystal,
Fair and exquisite and clear,
Broken in a million pieces,
Shattered, scattered, far and near!.
Now and then along life's pathway,
Some shining fragments fall;
But there are so many pieces
No one ever finds them all!.
You may find a bit of beauty,
Or an honest share of wealth,
While another, just beside you
Gathers honour, love, or health!.
Vain to choose or grasp unduly,
Broken is the perfect ball;
And there are so many pieces
No one ever finds them all!.
Yet the wise, as on they journey,
Treasure every fragment clear,
Fit them as they may together,
Imagining the shattered sphere,
Learning ever to be thankful,
Though their share of it is small;
For it has so many pieces
No one ever finds them all!."

The way you ask the question offers limited options!. Yes, you can pursue happiness, but there's absolutely no guarantee that you're going to find it, and, let's face it, a lot of people don't!. From what I can tell, our lives are works-in-progress, and maybe we're a bit naive in thinking that we should be looking for an end point in which we'll always be happy; maybe what life is about is enjoying the ride, and being as happy as we can with whatever problems and opportunities life offers to us!. If you're willing to unconditionally love, and most people aren't willing to do that, then, yes, you can have happiness with another person forever!. It really helps to love others if you love yourself first!. It's also possible to love yourself, others and everything else that exists in creation!. After all, what do we really know about our capacity to love!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have happiness, the emotion confused with the phrase "the pursuit of happiness" which means freedom to live your life as you see fit!.

Happiness is an emotions, "the pursuit of happiness" is a social contract!. Following your heart has everything to do with the second one and nothing to do with the first one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am going to give the most simplistic answer possible!.

You walk by Bloomingdale's and gaze in the window!. You see something that catches your eye!. (It may not even be sold there - just a window prop!.) You think to yourself - I want that!. You save up, track the item down, buy it and bring it home!. Do you like the way it looks once it's in your home!? Did you stop looking in the Bloomingdale's window!? Are you satisfied with that item and now don't have to buy anything else ever again!?

How many times have you thought you wanted something and then once you had you realized it wasn't what you'd thought it would be!? The perfect guy for you turns out to be not so great after all!? Those shoes that would go perfectly with that dress just didn't seem to really work out like you wished!. That fantastic job became mediocre at best!. That trendy bag stopped being trendy the minute you bought it!. You can apply the same logic to material goods as to deep relationships - sometimes we think or hope things will be better than they truly are!. Sometimes we get bored with perfection and seek out something messy!.

It isn't always about fear!. Sometimes the perfect thing today, isn't the perfect thing tomorrow!. Yesterday the perfect meal would have been down home Southern BBQ ribs and pulled pork sandwiches!. Today I'd rather have oyster Po'Boys and a salad!. Tomorrow, I think I'd like Thai food but I'll settle for a tunafish sandwich on seven grain bread (which is what I had today for dinner with miso soup)!.

The point is happiness is a state of mind!. It is very much a "now" phenomenon!. It doesn't matter if you were happy before!. What matters is how you feel now and what that will do for you later!. That's why happiness can seem so elusive!. It's not something you can plan on in advance!. It either happens in the moment or it doesn't!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've never heard it put quite like that but it is the truth!. It is a chase and we seldom, if ever, attain it!. I am told that happiness comes from within, which only makes me wonder what happened to me!. Happiness is so fleeting!. I once has a pewter ashtray that said around the rim of it "Happiness !. !. !. Yesterday's Dream !. !. !. Tomorrow's Memory!." That about sums it up for me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think happiness is a choice you make!. I think happiness is being content with what you have!. (As oppossed to wanting what you don't!.)
No other person can make you happy -- you have to find your own happiness inside you!. And you won't ever be happy with anything or anyone unless you are happy with yourself!.

Honestly I feel its entirely personal!. I believe if you follow what you really feel would be what would make you truly happy and forget everything you feel is currently tying you down to your current life you can without a doubt find true happyness!.
