My class in English just Finished Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher"

We expressed a lot of themes, and representation!. As you should be aware of Roderick Usher's insanity!. he knows he is insane!. But is he truly that!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I do not remember the Poe story well enough to comment on HIS representation of insanity!. But I believe sanity is a goal, like walking a tight-rope!. Those who do it poorly try and try to "look" smooth but fall off again and again!. those who do it well know how to "wiggle" on the wire!. A rigid adherence to the image of "sanity" is seldom a strong example of it!.

Sanity and insanity are directions not exact points!. We're all somewhere in the middle!.

insanity is merely a way in which society classifies people!. An example is any personality disorder, where an explicit criterion of diagnosis is
" Experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the individual's culture!. This pattern is manifested in two (or more) of the following areas:

1!.cognition (perception and interpretation of self, others and events)
2!.affect (the range, intensity, lability, and appropriateness of emotional response)
3!.interpersonal functioning
4!.impulse control "

If a person with a mental disorder existed apart from society they would not be insane, they would just be themselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, but often after realising that you are insane you might be able to correct your own insanity and become no longer insane !.!.!.!.!.!. i think!. But then you might define insane as being unable to correct your own insanity, which is where the problem with insanity is!. But what if you don't want to correct your own insanity!? What if your insanity is asking nonstop questions!? And you go on forever!? perhaps you enjoy being insane!? arghhhhhhhhhhWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think the thought "I'm being insane" or "Am I acting insane!?" is just that: a thought!.

Being insane is a label, depending on the doctor or person or whatever!. It's a label that is a mind label, and you are right, when you SAY it, it ceases to exist!.

An actual insane person is in that state, as a state of being!. Like being in the sun!. It's not a thought!. It's an Is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think I'm insane, and I'm aware of it, and I mean that seriously!. Being insane and being in denial are two different things!. Knowing you're insane doesn't necessarily make it go away!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course you can be insane and aware of it, there are plenty of people who know that they are paranoid schizophrenics or bipolar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!. Of course!. If you mean insane in having a disorder or mental illness than many people know that they're "insane" or at least know that they're different or out of the norm!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
