Question: Isn't telling a porky pie moral or at least not immoral at times!?
Now I'm not just talking about not disclosing the truth but rather actually telling a lie!. For example, lets say a strange man storms into my house with a rifle in one hand and an axe in the other and asks me where my brother is (with the intention of killing him)!. Lets say my brother is upstairs but rather than telling the truth I lie and say he's gone out!. Lets also say that my brother doesn't deserve to be killed because he has done nothing wrong!. Surely this lie is moral or at least not immoral!? Surely some people don't deserve the truth or deserve to be lied to!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

A lie is moral when used as in your example to protect the innocent!.
I never heard the expression porky pie, I assume it is the same as a little white lie!. We all tell them, when asked something 'like do these pants make me look fat!?'

Of course lying to protect ourselves is not the same thing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
